Append

Enrich location data, mobile reports, or customer lists with PersonaLive segmentation.

The Append tool brings your own data into PersonaLive so you can enrich it with segmentation, group it for analysis, and export it. Append has three tabs: Locations, Mobile Reports, and Customer Lists.

Use the enriched data in Analyze and Map, or export it for work outside the platform.

Locations

Use the Locations tab to add stores, group them by performance metrics such as sales, and tag them by characteristics.

Add locations

Click Add Location and choose a method:

MethodWhat it does
Enter AddressAdd a single location manually
Add Brand StoresSelect locations from the brand database
Upload FileImport locations from a CSV or TSV file

Open Append and select the Locations tab.

Click Add Location, then Add Brand Stores to load a brand, Upload File for your own stores, or Enter Address for one site.

For an upload, map columns such as address, city, state, and zip. Add custom fields (sales, unit type, and similar) so you can group stores later. Name the set so it is easy to find.

Group top-performing stores

Use groups to isolate a subset for analysis — for example, stores above a sales threshold.

Open the location group (or ungrouped list) that contains your stores.

Sort by a metric such as sales. Select the rows you want to isolate.

Click Organize, then Create new group. Name the group after the cut (for example, Top performers) and click Create.

Open Analyze, set Source to Trade Areas, and select the new group under Locations.

Export segmentation data

Select locations and open Export Segmentation Data. Choose a Breakdown of PersonaLive Groups or PersonaLive Segments, a Trade area of Radius, Drive time, or Mobile footprint, and a format:

  • Comparison matrix
  • Individual files
  • Combined total

Exports can include Percent, Base, Index, Count, Population, and Raw visits.

Then open Analyze, set Source to Trade Areas, and select the same Locations.

Mobile Reports

Mobile Reports help you understand who is visiting a location, not only how many visits there are.

Click New Report (or Add Mobile Report) and choose:

MethodWhat it does
Upload ReportImport a file from Placer, Azira, or Unacast
Create ReportDraw a custom polygon around a site
Attach Existing ReportLink a report you already uploaded

Upload a provider report

Click New Report, then Upload Report. Upload a CSV or TSV that includes census block group and visit counts. Some reports can also use latitude and longitude.

At minimum, census block group is required to segment devices. Providing latitude/longitude can improve accuracy when your provider includes it.

Choose how to attach the report: a new prospective location, an existing location, or skip association for now.

Submit the report and wait until status is Ready.

Create a custom report

Click New Report, then Create Report. Search for the site and click Draw Polygon to outline it.

Choose the time window for analysis, name the report, and click Create Report.

Then open Analyze, set Source to Visitors, and select Mobile data.

Customer Lists

Upload a customer list when you want to analyze it in the platform and enrich each record for export. A postal address is the most important matching field.

Click Upload List to open Upload New Customer List. The wizard steps are Guidelines, Upload, Mapping, Configure, and Review.

Prepare the file

Include a Customer ID and at least one matching variable. Typical columns are customer ID, first name, last name, address, email, and optional value metrics (numeric spend or categorical flags). Include as many clean matching variables as you can for the best match rate.

Value metrics are averaged across segments in Analyze so you can see which segments are most valuable.

Map columns and configure

Map each column to a field such as Customer ID, First Name, Last Name, Email, Address, City, State, and Zip. Custom metrics map to Custom field.

On Configure, optionally enable Retain customer locations for mapping (coordinates are jittered up to 25 meters) and Split by store if you have a store column.

Review and submit. When status is Ready, open Analyze, set Source to Customers, and select Customer lists.

Download the enriched file from the customer list when you need to join results back to your system. PII is stripped; the output keeps the ID, segment, group, and match details.

Matching

Address is the minimum field for household matching. Extra fields (name, email, and similar) can improve match rate. When a precise household match is not possible, PersonaLive may assign the dominant segment for the block group or ZIP. The output match level shows how the record was matched. For batch matching outside the app, use the API.

Organize your data

Each Append tab uses the same organization tools to keep large sets manageable:

ToolWhat it doesScope
GroupsPut items into a named folder. Each location, list, or report belongs to at most one group.Separate per tab — location groups do not mix with customer-list or mobile-report groups.
TagsLabel items with one or more colored tags for cross-cutting themes (region, campaign, status, and similar).Shared across all three Append tabs.

Grouped rows appear under a collapsible group header in the table. Ungrouped rows sit below the groups. Use Filters to narrow the table.

When you select rows, a bulk toolbar appears at the bottom of the screen with Organize, Tags, Export, and Delete.

Create a new group

Open Append and select the Locations, Mobile Reports, or Customer Lists tab.

Select one or more rows with the checkboxes. A bulk toolbar appears at the bottom showing how many items are selected.

Click Organize (folder icon), then Create new group.

In the New group dialog, enter a Group name and click Create. The selected items move into the new group.

You can also drag rows into a new group: grab the grip handle on the left of a row, drag to the New group drop zone at the bottom of the screen, name the group, and click Create. If other rows are selected, they move together.

Move items to an existing group

Select the locations, customer lists, or mobile reports you want to move.

Click Organize, then click the target group name. Items move immediately.

To drag items into a group, drop selected rows onto the group row or its members.

Remove items from a group

Select grouped rows, click Organize, then Remove from group.

Or drag grouped rows to the Ungroup drop zone at the bottom of the screen while dragging.

Rename or delete a group

Click the menu on a group header and choose Group actions.

Click Rename, update the name in the Rename group dialog, and click Save.

To delete a group, open Group actions and choose Delete group. If the group still has members, PersonaLive asks you to confirm the delete prompt (for example, Delete group "Top performers"?) and warns that deleting the group also deletes its locations, customer lists, or mobile reports. An empty group is removed without deleting any items.

Deleting groups

Deleting a group that contains items permanently removes those items. Use Remove from group first if you only want to dissolve the folder.

Tag individual items

In the Tags column, click a row’s tag cell (empty cells show ).

In the tag picker, check or uncheck tags to add or remove them. Use Search tags… when you have many tags.

To create a tag on the fly, click Create tag, enter a Tag name, and click Create tag. The new tag is applied to that row automatically.

Up to three tag chips show inline; additional tags appear as a + count badge.

Tag selected items in bulk

Select rows, then click Tags in the bulk toolbar.

Toggle tags in the picker. A full checkbox adds the tag to every selected item; a partial checkbox means only some selected items have that tag.

Manage the tag catalog

Tags are global — editing or deleting a tag affects every Append tab.

Open the Columns menu. On the Tags row, click the gear icon (Manage tags).

In Manage tags, click Add tag to create tags, rename them inline, pick colors, or delete unused tags. Click Done when finished.

You can also edit or delete individual tags from the tag picker while editing a row. Deleting a tag shows a confirmation such as Delete "West region" tag? and removes that tag from every location, customer list, and mobile report that uses it.

  • Site Selection — Use appended locations to find and validate sites.
  • Marketing Activation — Turn customer-list segments into audiences.
  • Accessing Data — Geographic Cloud files (separate from Append).
  • API — Programmatic customer matching.
